F. Gail Humphrey

F. Gail Humphrey, 66, Frederica, passed away at Bayhealth – Kent General Hospital, on Wednesday, September 16, 2020.  He was the son of June Humphrey and the late Ernest Humphrey. 

Gail was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force. He loved to travel and would often take military hops to places such as Guam and Hawaii where he enjoyed spending extended periods of time. He became more settled when he met and married his beloved wife, Donna. He also traveled to Tennessee several times a year to visit extended family.

Gail was a friendly person who lived simply. In his spare time, he enjoyed Nascar races, watching old tv shows, playing cards, and going to the slots.  Even though he was shy, and somewhat a loner, Gail enjoyed playing games with his nieces and nephews. He also had a special bond with his pets who would follow him around like the pied piper. 

In addition to his father, Gail is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Donna; brother, Kenneth Humphrey, and step-children Gary and Autumn.

Gail is survived by his mother, June Humphrey; siblings; Gary (Ginny) Humphrey, Wayne Humphrey (fiance’ Karen), Norma “Kitty” (Joe) DiDiego, Steve Humphrey, and Penny Bishop, several nieces and nephews, and special friends, Bonnie and Larry Keller.  

Services for Gail will be on Tuesday, September 22, at Melvin Funeral Home, 15522 South DuPont Hwy, Harrington, at 12PM.  A visitation for family and friends will start at 11 AM.  Interment will take place at the Barratt’s Chapel Cemetery, Frederica, DE.  We are adhering to the CDC and Delaware guidelines of occupancy limits, social distancing, and masks.

Arrangements are by the Thomas E. Melvin & Son Funeral Home Inc, Harrington, DE.
