Donald B. Bamford, Felton, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 29, 2020, from his home surrounded by family, he was 88. Born in Philadelphia, and working in Cheltenham for many years, he and his wife moved to Delaware after their retirement and called Felton home for the past 16 years.
Mr. Bamford was a police officer for the Cheltenham Police Department just outside of Philadelphia. He enjoyed being an officer and was a highly trusted, devoted, and decorated officer. He was the first motorcycle officer of the department. He worked in almost every department including narcotics and detective, and was also a firearms instructor.
In his spare time, he did enjoy riding motorcycles and travelling. Together with his wife, he enjoyed travelling to Germany, Hawaii, Paris, and all over Europe. Upon his retirement, and moving to Felton, he enjoyed taking care of his home and yard. He will be sadly missed.
He is survived by his wife of almost 41 years, Elfriede Bamford; children, Donna (Robert) Blickle, William "Billy" Dooley, Robert Dooley; step children, Anthony Spinnraker, Hildegard Rossomano, Jean Gaston, Lydia Zaslow; 13 grandchildren; and numerous great grandchildren.
