Charlie Wood Obituary

Charlie J. Wood, Harrington, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 12, 2023 from the Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital, he was 85.  Mr. Wood was born to the late, Noah and Decie Wood.

Mr. Wood worked as a computer scientist for the Department of Defense for many years.  After his retirement he continued to work, including for CHEER driving a bus.

In his younger years, Mr. Wood was an avid bowler, and actually met his wife in a bowling alley as she was an accomplished bowler herself.  He played softball on a church league until he was in his 60's.  Old Country Christian music were his favorite to listen to, and he enjoyed Suduko and doing the crossword puzzle in the newspaper everyday.  Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy were his favorite things to watch on TV.

Mr. Wood will be remembered as a funny person who loved his puns, loved to laugh and joke around.  Family was very important to him and he was a loving husband, father, and son.  He travelled to Florida to visit family yearly, and even moved there for ten years to take care of his Mother.

Mr. Wood was a member of the Grace Independent Baptist Church of Crownsville when he lived in Maryland, First Baptist Church of Ocoee, Florida and a member of the First Baptist Church of Milford where he currently attended.  He was always quick to help out whenever the doors were open and the church needed help.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his grandchildren, Sarah, Mikayla; and brother in law, Clarence O’Neal Jr.

He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Betty Wood; children, Michael (Susan) Wood, Paul Wood, John Wood, Sarah (Tim) Cochran, Susan Wood; siblings, Leahon (Bette) Wood, Shirley O'Neal; grandchildren, Paul, Rachel, Ashley, Alison, Kimberly, Matthew, Andrew; great grandchildren, Gavin, Elliot, Dylan, Oliver.
