Cedric Jackson

Cedric L. Jackson, Harrington, DE, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by friends, and his beloved wife Melva, on Monday, August 8, 2022, he was 72.  Cedric was born in Washington, DC to the late, Anna and Elbert Jackson Sr.

Cedric served his country proudly in the United States Navy.  On a football scholarship, Cedric went to the Yankton College in South Dakota, where he obtained a Bachelors in Kinesiology.  His college roommate happened to be Lyle Alzado, an All Pro football defensive end of the NFL.  Cedric retired as a postal carrier in the Washington DC area after working there for over 30 years.
 
Cedric in his younger days, was an avid bicyclist who at one time happened to ride with Lance Armstrong.  He also enjoyed coaching little league football and loved to cook, BBQ, and working on his crafts.  He enjoyed operating a lawn care service for many years as well.  Years ago, he was President of the Roman Lords, a civic organization that did community work and social activities. Cedric loved doing things for others, and had a servants heart.  He was a people person, who never met a stranger, and anyone he ran into and met, you would think he knew that person for years.  He had a way about him that put anyone at ease, and made friends easily.  He always had a story to tell and always made you laugh.  He was truly a special and unique person who will be terribly missed.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, Donald Jackson and Elbert Jackson Jr.

He is survived by his loving wife, Melva Jackson; children, Christopher (Claudia) Jackson, Dominic Jackson, Cedric "C.J." Jackson Jr., Donielle "Donnie"  Stokes; grandchild, Keith "Miles" Stancil, Nayelli Jackson-Sejas; siblings, Barbara Martin, Rune' M. Jackson II, sister in law, Charlene Phillips.

A Memorial Service for Cedric will be on Saturday, August 27, at the Melvin Funeral Home, 15522 South DuPont Hwy, Harrington, DE, at 11 AM.  A viewing will be an hour prior, starting at 10 AM.
