Bobby Killen Obituary

Bobby E. Killen, 91, of Felton, DE passed away at Brookdale Senior Living Center in Dover, DE in the early morning hours of Sunday, October 8, 2023. He was the son of the late Bryan and Lida Killen.

Bobby was a 1952 graduate of Felton High School, and in October of that year was drafted into the US Army and served at the tail end of the Korean War. Following the war, his unit was assigned the task of rebuilding a local elementary school in Korea before their return home. Once home, Bobby enrolled in broadcast school, and worked seventeen years as a DJ for the WSUX radio station in Seaford, DE.  One of Bobby’s favorite activities of that time was going out and doing live broadcasts at various events around Seaford.  He also worked as a security guard for Bennett Security at Milford Memorial Hospital for several years on the 4-12 shift.

Bobby was an active member of the Harrington Church of the Nazarene and later the Milford Church of the Nazarene. He had a deep love for his family, an outgoing personality, having never met a stranger, and his quick wit, and mischievous grin endeared him to many. He will be greatly missed.

In addition to his parents, Bobby is preceded in death by his sister, Thelma Gerardi; and his son, Bryan E. Killen.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Trudy Killen; daughters, Christy L. (Dean) Bakas, Kimberly J. Killen; nephew, Albert Gerardi; great nephews and nieces, David, Shannon, Kevin, Cindy, and Melissa; and other extended family.

Services Celebrating the Life of Bobby will be held at the Melvin Funeral Home 15522 S. DuPont Hwy. Harrington DE, on Wednesday, October 11, 2023 at 12:00PM. A viewing will be held one-hour prior beginning at 11:00AM. Interment will follow services at Mt. Olive Cemetery in Sandtown, DE.
