Wayne D. Huey, Houston, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 7, 2025 at Bayhealth Kent Campus, he was 71. He was the son of June Huey and the late Lester Huey.
Wayne left high school to serve his country proudly in the US Navy for 4 years, which included time in Vietnam. He worked briefly for Playtex as an electrician technician.
Wayne was a master electrician by trade, and owned his own electrical business. Wayne was an inventor and tinkerer who could build or make anything. He was especially proud to have completely gutted and remodeled his previous home. When he was not tinkering, Wayne enjoyed gardening, watching Saturday Night Live, Sci Fi shows, and America’s Funniest Videos. He also enjoyed watching shows that explained how items were made and how they functioned. Wayne was strong willed but loveable and funny. He was always happy, good natured, and when asked how he was doing, he would answer, “is alright”.
In addition to his father, Wayne is preceded in death by his brother, Floyd Huey.
In addition to his mother, Wayne is survived by his loving wife of 22 years, P. Gail Huey; step-children, Vincent Carey (Michelle), John Carey, Tammy Carey and Carrie Cammarato (Anthony); a special granddaughter, Ella Cammarato; brothers, Donnie Huey, Ricky Huey, Kenny Huey, Ronnie Huey, and Kevin Huey; his beloved dog Boo and constant feline companion, Kit Kat.
