Sue Ellen Dennis passed away peacefully and entered God’s Kingdom on Friday, December 26, 2025, at Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital.
Sue Ellen O’Neal Dennis, was a devoted wife, mother, Mimi, and friend whose life was centered on faith, family, and service to others.
Sue Ellen was the beloved daughter of the late Frank and Harriett O’Neal and the loving wife of J. Durand Dennis Jr. Together they built a life rooted in love, dedication, and quiet strength.
She was a proud and caring mother to her daughters, Janel Wyatt (Corey Wyatt) and Corey Knight (Josh Knight). Sue Ellen found immeasurable joy in her role as Mimi to Colton and Kaden Wyatt and Harper and Lincoln Knight, cherishing every moment spent with them. She also held a special place in her heart for her favorite “boy,” Ziggy, who was always close by her side.
Sue Ellen graduated from Lake Forest High School in 1970 and went on to earn her Bachelor’s Degree from Wilmington University. She dedicated much of her professional life to serving others, working at Dover Air Force Base School, within the Lake Forest School District, and at Calvary Wesleyan Church, where she served faithfully as a secretary.
An avid quilter, Sue Ellen poured her creativity and care into every piece she made, creating meaningful gifts that reflected her patience and love. She also enjoyed watching the birds outside especially her hummingbirds which she enjoying feeding in her many feeders. Above all else, she treasured time spent with her family, which brought her the greatest happiness and fulfillment.
Sue Ellen will be remembered for her outgoing personality, strong work ethic, and unwavering love for those closest to her. Her legacy lives on in the hearts of her family and all who were blessed to know her.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held on Friday, January 2, 2026, at the Calvary Wesleyan Church, 240 Delaware Ave., Harrington, DE at 12 noon. A visitation for family and friends will be held starting at 11 AM.
In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations in her memory to the Calvary Wesleyan Church Building Fund, 240 Delaware Ave, Harrington, DE 19952.
