Joyce A Lake

Joyce A. Lake, Harrington, passed away on Friday, January 2, 2026, at the University of Pennsylvania Hospital, Philadelphia, she was 84. She was the daughter of the late William and Marian Pearson.

Joyce graduated from Harrington High School. She was a member of the Harrington Alumni and Frederica Senior Center. Joyce was a charter member of the Pilgrim Chapel Church in Harrington where she was also the secretary for 20 years.

Joyce spent most of her early life supporting her husband’s military career while raising their children. She was happy to have had the privilege of living in Tripoli (the capital of Libya in North Africa), Spain, and the states of Washington, Indiana, Kansas, and Georgia. Joyce enjoyed traveling, cooking, cake decorating, scrapbooking, card making, and listening to the older style of country music and Elvis Presley. She deeply loved her family, and always welcomed people with open arms, often adopting them into her family. She never met a stranger, and was always happy to talk to others. Her love and warmth will be missed by all who know her.

In addition to her parents, Joyce is preceded in death by her siblings, Charles Pearson, Ellen Brocklehurst, Faye Lyons, and Barbara Pearson.

Joyce is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Enoch R. Lake; children, Cathy Blessing, Julie Chilicas, and Gregory Lake; grandchildren, Samantha Garcia, Derek Chilicas, Garrett Blessing, Christopher Blessing, Tashina Lake, Victoria Owen, Shawn Chilicas, and Donna Garrett; great grandchildren, Carlee Owen, Gregory Owen, Lincoln Owen, Roman Tanana, Collin Blessing, Tarik Tanana, Harper Owen, William Blessing, Arlo Garcia, and Merik Tanana.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 8, 2026 at the Thomas E. Melvin & Son Funeral Home, 15522 S. DuPont Hwy., Harrington at 1 PM. A visitation will take place one hour prior starting at 12 Noon. Interment will follow immediately after at Hollywood Cemetery, Harrington.
