Emilie Smith-Miller, of Harrington, passed away on February 2, 2026 at her home, at the age of 78. She was the daughter of the late George Stevenson and Elma Baynard.
Emilie was a hard worker with a variety of jobs during her lifetime. She worked on a farm in her younger years, was a line supervisor at a chicken plant before becoming an USDA Inspector. She was a receptionist at People’s Place and retired as a day care owner/operator.
Emilie was very family oriented, loved to laugh, hanging out with the family and grandkids, and watch Westerns on TV. She enjoyed playing bingo, going to the slots, doing crossword puzzles, and playing spades. Emilie was known as a fun loving, caring, loving, and feisty lady.
In addition to her parents, Emilie is preceded in death by her first husband, Arthur Smith and her second husband, Gerald C. Miller; son, Robert Lee Smith; and sister, Sheila Young.
Emilie is survived by her children, Deneen Smith Roe, Merlin Smith, Cornelia (Connie) Smith Lee, and Cynthia Smith Stevens; brother, Edward Baynard; sisters, Darlene Griffin, Florida Smith, Yvonne Dudley, and Annette Wideman; half-brother, Gerald Miller; 11 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and a large extended family.
A Funeral Service will take place on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, at 12 Noon, with a visitation starting at 11 AM, at the Thomas E. Melvin & Son Funeral Home, 15522 South DuPont Hwy, Harrington, DE. Interment will follow immediately after at the Milford Community Cemetery, Milford.
Arrangements are by the Thomas E. Melvin & Son Funeral Home Inc, Harrington.
