Elizabeth "Libby" M. Butler

Elizabeth M. “Libby” Butler, Milford, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 21, 2026, at the Delaware Hospice Center, Milford, she was 72. Libby was born in Milford, DE to the late Dorothy and Lester R. Minner Sr.

Libby worked for Comcast for over 34 years as a customer service manager. She formed many lasting relationships with her co-workers and was a pleasure to work with.

Libby was active in her community in Harrington. She was a member of the Harrington Senior Center where she served in various capacities, and active in the Calvary Wesleyan Church, where she served on the church board as secretary for over 18 years. After her retirement, Libby volunteered in the church office and called people who were shut ins and parishioners who had been missing church for a while to check on them. She also served on the monthly food distribution team for the church. As a graduate of Lake Forest, Libby was very involved with the Lake Forest Alumni Association and served as an officer and many other capacities for the organization.

Some of Libby’s favorite activities included crossword puzzles, shopping with her best friend Connie, and spending time and spoiling her grandchildren. Libby enjoyed the Delaware State Fair and looked forward to it every year and helped in the Administration Building. She also enjoyed being part of the Christian Motorcyclists Association alongside her late husband David and loved being a part of the rides and fellowship of the club. The last few years as a resident of Milford Genesis, Libby remained active and served on many committees there and was part of the resident council. She also volunteered in the bookstore and loved to play bingo and participate in the arts and crafts.

Libby lived her life centered around her family but more importantly her faith in God. No matter the tragedy or situation, Libby always leaned on her faith and trusted in the word of God. She lived her life selflessly and was always giving and caring for others above herself. She had a strong faith and lived her life true to her faith. She will be forever missed.

In addition to his parents, Libby is preceded in death by her husband, David V. Butler; son, Matthew Butler; daughter, Tammy Butler; brothers, Donald R. Minner and Lester R. Minner.

She is survived by her sister, Ruth Ferguson; daughter in law, Gina Butler, grandchildren, McKenzie Butler, Bethany Butler, Ezra Butler, Allison Jones, Rebecca Lee; great grandchild, Sophia Workman; brother and sister in laws, Bob and Peggy Butler, Jeannette Minner; aunt, Shirley Wooters; former son in law, Steve Jones; and best friend, Connie Harrington.

A Memorial Service to celebrate Libby’s life will take place on Saturday, October 3, 2026, at the Calvary Wesleyan Church, 240 Delaware Ave., Harrington, DE 19952, at 11 AM.

In lieu of flowers, donations are strongly encouraged to either the Calvary Wesleyan Church Building Fund, 240 Delaware Ave. Harrington, DE 19952, or to the Lake Forest Alumni Association, 1451 Turkey Point Road, Felton, DE 19943, in memory of Libby.
