Celebrating the Life of Bruce Stewart

January 24, 1956 – November 2, 2026

Bruce Stewart, 70, of Felton, Delaware, passed away on Monday, November 2, 2026, at home, surrounded by the love of his family. He leaves behind a family who loved him dearly and countless memories to be cherished for generations.

Born in Hixson, Tennessee, to the late John and Hilda Stewart, Bruce moved to Harrington, Delaware, in the third grade. He attended Lake Forest High School, where he met the love of his life, Debra (Debbie) Stewart, during his junior year. Their high school romance blossomed into a beautiful marriage of 49 years, and the family they created would always be his greatest pride and accomplishment.

Bruce spent much of his working life at local automotive repair shops, including Chambers Motors and Moore's Garage. A hardworking and skilled craftsman, he enjoyed woodworking and was rarely without a tool or a project.

His greatest joy, however, was his family. Bruce was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who never missed an opportunity to support his grandchildren, whether at softball tournaments, FFA events, soccer games, cross country meets, or dance recitals. He was always happy to babysit, and time spent with his grandchildren was among his greatest pleasures.

Bruce treasured family traditions, especially Christmas night, when everyone gathered for dinner and presents. He and Debbie enjoyed traveling to Lancaster to explore the shops and Amish markets. He also loved fishing and crabbing with his sons and grandchildren. Each year, he took pride in planting his garden, particularly for the fresh tomatoes he loved. Every December, his handcrafted, life-size manger scene became a beloved tradition, admired by both family and the local community.

Bruce is survived by his beloved wife of 49 years, Debra (Debbie) Stewart; his sons, Steven (Courtney) and Ashlee (Brittney); and his five grandchildren, Addyson (Randy), Margo, Harleigh, Jayse, and Emma. He is also survived by his brother, Terry (Debbie), and his family. Bruce's legacy lives on through the family he cherished, the traditions he created, and the countless memories shared with those who loved him. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
