Barbara A. Jefferson, passed away peacefully at home, on Sunday, July 6, 2026 with her family by her side, at the age of 82. She was the daughter of the late Jonas K. and Margaret Dean.
One of Barb’s greatest joys was being a seamstress. She loved crocheting, knitting, and making masks and hats for nurses. Barb loved listening to country music, going dancing with her husband, Sidney, Friday nights in Petersburg, and watching old westerns on TV. She enjoyed going swimming in the summer, playing games with family and friends, and shopping at HomeGoods and Hobby Lobby.
Barb loved spending time with her grandchildren and made sure to attend all their activities when they were growing up.
Barb made an impression wherever she went, she will be remembered for her sassiness, telling of dirty jokes, and making people laugh.
Barb was a member of the Harrington Moose Lodge and Frederica Senior Center.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her son, Ricky Emery; daughter, Linda Jefferson; grandson, Brock Cerklefskie; brothers, Robert “Bobby” Dean and Dale Dean.
She is survived by her loving husband and partner in crime, Sidney Jefferson; children, Lisa Cerklefskie (Robert), Wayne Melvin, and Crystal Myers; grandchildren, Corey Cerklefskie, DJ Gray and Melody Gray; 1 great grandchild; siblings, Roger Dean, Joan Shook, Teresa Lindale, and Gloria Stacy; numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.
A Funeral Service will take place on Thursday July 16th, at 12 Noon with a visitation starting at 11 am, at the Thomas E. Melvin & Son Funeral Home, 155522 South DuPont Hwy., Harrington. Interment will take place at Hopkins Cemetery, Felton DE.
