Alton William Collins, of Harrington, passed away peacefully at home on July 2, 2026 surrounded by his loving family. He was 90 years old.

Born to Clarence and Lena Collins, Alton dedicated his life to hard work, family, and the land he loved. After retiring from the railroad, he returned to his family’s farm in the 1960s, where he built a farming operation that remained his passion for more than 70 years. Whether tending crops or simply driving around the farm checking on the fields, Alton found joy in every aspect of farm life.

A true steward of the land, Alton was always willing to lend a helping hand, including volunteering to clean and care for local cemeteries whenever needed. He valued staying connected with those he loved, often calling family and friends just to catch up. Known for his outgoing personality and candid honesty, Alton never hesitated to speak his mind - whether you wanted to hear it or not. He also treasured Saturday nights spent dancing with his beloved wife, Evelyn “Teetsie”, at the Moose Lodge.

In addition to his parents, Alton is preceded in death by his loving wife of 65 years, Evelyn “Teestie” Collins; siblings, Catherine, Hilda, Marie, Louise, Emily, Paul, Ralph, and Clarence.

Alton is survived by several nieces and nephews; sister-in-law, Jeanette Cohee; friend and caretaker, Helen Burns.
