Sandra H. Carneiro, of Frederica, passed away on Thursday, December 28, 2017, at her home surrounded by her family, she was 73.  Sandra was born in San Francisco to the late, Clyde Smart Jr. and Patricia McHale.

Sandra was mainly a housewife, although while living in California she did do some secretarial work and was a teacher's aide.   Her biggest job and accomplishment was being a great mother and wife.  In her spare time, she enjoyed genealogy, and belonged to various genealogy clubs.  She loved bird watching and doing research on the birds that she saw.  She enjoyed nature in general and all of its creations, especially butterflies.  She enjoyed crafts like cross stitching, cooking, and reading.  To say she was a busy body is an understatement, she was always on the move.   Sandra also enjoyed NASCAR and cheered on her favorite driver, #48, Jimmie Johnson.  She loved the San Francisco Giants as well.

Sandra was very outgoing and never met a stranger.  She could make friends with a stranger in line at the grocery store, she was that exuberant.  She could be ornery at times, and her zest for life and her family was always evident.  She was always worried about everyone else and not herself.  Her kind, loving, and friendly nature will be sorely missed.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Darrell Smart.

She is survived by her husband, Philip A. Caneiro; children, Tracy Mattson, Kelly Costa, Wendy Hudson; siblings, Kathy Furtado, Dean Smart. Dana Smart, Shauna Smart; grandchildren, Justin Costa, Jessica Camp, Jennifer Costa, Emily Mattson, Zachary Mattson, Kylie Mattson, Magdelena Hudson; great grandkids, Tommy Legar, Alaric Camp, Kennedy Hanley.

Services will be private by the family.

Arrangements are by the Thomas E. Melvin & Son Funeral Home Inc, Harrington, DE.  Visit us at www.melvinfuneralhome.com to send flowers or sign condolence book.
