Welcome to the memorial page for

Ronald C. Vincent

February 26, 2017

Ronald C. Vincent, age 75, of Farmington, passed away at home on Sunday, February 26, 2017.  He was born in Milford, DE to the late Albert H. and A. Cleora Vincent.

Ronald served his country proudly in the National Guard.  He worked for Teal Construction for many years until his retirement.  Not looking to be idle, he started his own business, Vincent Backhoe Service, which he worked hard at, and enjoyed.

In his spare time, Ronald loved to watch baseball, and in years past, he enjoyed playing softball.  Another favorite past time of his was trap shooting.  Besides the love of his life, his wife Beverly, Ronald loved his local Farmington Volunteer Fire Co.  He served in many capacities over the years including President, Chief, and the Board of Directors, and visited the firehouse every day.  He was recently presented at the Farmington Fire Co. Awards Banquet on February 18th, with a House of Representatives Resolution for 55 years of continuous service as a chief officer.  After being promoted to assistant fire chief in 1966, Ronald started 50 consecutive years as a chief officer which included a department record of 17 years as fire chief.  He was also one of the few men who did not mind pitching in a helping hand for the Ladies Auxiliary.

Ronald was best described as a homebody.  He loved his community and being local.  He had a dry personality until you got to know him.  He was a quiet man, but once he spoke up, you knew to listen to what he had to say.  Above all, he was always willing to give you a hand.  He will be sadly missed by his close family, and his fire company family.

Besides his devotion to the Farmington Volunteer Fire Co., Ronald was also President of the Farmington Town Council, and a member of the Harrington Moose Lodge #534, and the Millington Gun Club.

In addition to his parents, Ronald is preceded in death by a brother, Albert "Spanky" Vincent; a sister, Bonnie Vincent McPherson, and his beloved dog, Buddy.

He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Beverly Vincent of Farmington; sister, Sandra (Bill) Vincent Wood, Nora Ellen Taylor; brother in law, Tom McPherson, sister in law, Betty Vincent, and his dog, Jake.

Services will take place on Saturday, March 4, 2017, at the Thomas E. Melvin & Son Funeral Home, 15522 South DuPont Hwy., Harrington, DE, at 12pm, with a visitation starting two hours prior.  The interment will take  place at Hollywood Cemetery, Harrington.
