HARRINGTON — Regina M. Gygrynuk passed away at home on Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2017. She was the daughter of the late John and Mary Donovan.  She was 86.

After graduating from West Catholic High School of Philadelphia, Pa. in 1950, Regina married and became a homemaker, devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was a woman of deep faith who was very devoted to the St. Bernadette Catholic Church where she served as a Eucharist minister for many years. She also volunteered with the Food Bank. Regina enjoyed  attending mass and then going out to breakfast after church. She was more fond of eating than cooking, and especially liked fried chicken.  Another of her loves was the beach, and all things Irish: Notre Dame, Irish Pubs, River Dancing, and Irish Music. She was fond of animals, particularly her dog Max, and watching the Animal Planet channel.

Regina was the sweetest, kindest person who loved to tease, but would give you the shirt off her back, even if it was her only one. She never got mad and was very proud of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Regina was preceded in death by her brothers, Jack and Thomas Donovan.

She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Walter; children Denise (Hal) Blades, Sharon (Steven) Bailey, Walter J (Cristina) Gygrynuk, Robert Michael Gygrynuk, and Michael Patrick Gygrynuk; sister, Annabelle Cooney; ten grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Bernadette Catholic Church, 109 Dixon St, Harrington, DE 19952 at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 11, 2017, with a visitation, two hours prior to the service on Monday, at Melvin Funeral Home 15522 S. DuPont Hwy. Harrington, DE 19952. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to St. Bernadette Catholic Church, 109 Dixon St., Harrington, DE 19952. Interment will be at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Dagsboro.
