Raymond Bunting Obituary

Raymond T. Bunting of Dover, passed away on Tuesday, May 15, 2018, at the Courtland Manor of Dover, he was 88.  Mr. Bunting was the son of the late, Raymond L. and Bernice Bunting.

Mr. Bunting served his country with honor in the US Navy during the Korean War.  He served 4 years active service and 4 years in the Naval Reserves.  After his discharge, he went to work as a painter and continued to do so for the next 50 years, until he retired in 2004.  He also did light carpentry on the side.  In his spare time, he enjoyed wood working, and loved to make toys for kids, cradles, cabinetry, etc.  He always had a big vegetable garden that could literally feed the neighborhood.  He also enjoyed canning and freezing his abundant produce.

Mr. Bunting will be remembered as a very generous person who was always willing to help others.   He was a quiet person who lived simply and a "salt of the Earth" type of individual.  He was easy going, and very passive, as he never liked to stir up trouble.  He will be sadly missed.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Lousie Bunting; step son, George Campbell Jr., siblings, Ruth Townsend, Chester Bunting, Christine Layton, Alvin Bunting, Frank Bunting, Lewis Bunting, Dorothy Hitchens, Elizabeth Hudson, Ellen Thielemann, and Hilda LeCates.

Mr. Bunting was a member of the American Legion Post #28 of Millsboro.

He is survived by his children, David Bunting, Marlene Chmura; step children, Karen Brooks, Debra Lloyd, Connie Zuchowski; sister, Alice Cosden; 10 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

The family will gather at the Delaware Veterans Cemetery South, Millsboro, for a memorial service, on Thursday, June 7 at 2 PM.
