Melrose J. Salmons

Melrose J. Salmons of Harrington, DE  passed away at the Delaware Hospice Center in Milford, on Sunday, November 26, 2017, she was 82 years old.  She was the daughter of the late, Raymond and Helen Moyer.

Melrose retired from Leggett's Department Store after more than 20 years. She then started waitressing at various local restaurants, most recently for the Stargate Restaurant in Harrington, where she was best known as Mama. She was a hard worker, with a heart of gold, who would do anything for anybody. She was also straight forward and not afraid to give her opinion on matters. Melrose was deeply devoted to her family, especially her grand kids and great grand kids. When she wasn't working she attended church at Calvary Wesleyan in Harrington. She also liked to travel to PA to the small town that she was proud to have grown up in, and never missed an episode of General Hospital.

In addition to her parents, Melrose was preceded in death by her husband, D. Robert Salmons, and her brother, Richard A. "Popeye" Moyer.

She is survived by her daughter Deborah J. (J. William, Jr.) Moffett; son, Robert (Stacey Buck) Salmons; grandchildren, Melanie (Rob) Rosser, David Moffett, Wm R. (Molly Dobos) Moffett, Ashley (Brian) Paris, and Bobby Salmons; great grandchildren, Taylor, Robbie, Cole, Lily, Caje, Elly, Trey, Kara, Ryan, Calliegh, and Gabriel; nieces Dana (Norman) Barlow, Becky Robbins; and great nieces and nephew, Rylee, Dalayna, Brooke, Michael, and Marah.

Funeral services will take place at the Melvin Funeral Home, 15522 South DuPont Hwy., Harrington, DE on Wednesday, December 6, 2017 at 1 pm.  A visitation for family and friends will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, December 5, 2017 from 6-8pm.  Interment will be at Hollywood Cemetery, Harrington.
