FELTON — Ira W. Ware passed away at Bayhealth, Milford. He was the son of the late William and Anne Ware. He was 79.
Mr. Ware served in the Delaware National Guard for eight years. He was a proud member of the Viola Ruritan Club.
Mr. Ware was a mechanic, he worked at Townsend Brothers for 19 years and 27 ½ years at General Motors before retiring.
One of Mr. Ware’s loves was antique tractors. He enjoyed traveling the Eastern Seaboard attending antique tractor shows as well as local shows and auctions. He enjoyed cutting grass, traveling, and camping with his wife. He was known as a jack of all trades who could fix just about anything. Mr. Ware dearly loved his granddaughters and taking them “pond-hopping” to fish, hike and just spend time together.
Mr. Ware didn’t know a stranger, loved everyone and was known for his distinct laugh. He was a sweet man who was always willing to help.
Mr. Ware is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Virginia Ware; daughter, Lorri Bradley; son, Michael Ware; granddaughters, Ashton and Lauren Bradley; brothers, James Ware (Margaret), Richard Ware (Norma); and a sister, Ardella Peters (Michael).
Services will take place at the Thomas E. Melvin & Son Funeral Home, 15522 South DuPont Hwy., Harrington, on Friday, Aug. 25, 2017, at 1 p.m. Interment will take place immediately after at the Sharon Hills Memorial Park, Dover. A visitation for family and friends will take place one hour prior to the service.
