George R. Rash Sr.

George R. Rash Sr., of Harrington, passed away on Monday, August 21, 2018, at the Milford Center, he was 86.  Mr. Rash was born in Dover, DE to the late, George and Ella Rash.

Mr. Rash retired from Playtex after 40 years of dedicated employment.  He worked in the shipping department out of Plant 3. 

In his younger days, Mr. Rash loved to bowl, where he received lots of trophies, and stock car racing and racing at Willow Grove.  He enjoyed fishing and squirrel hunting as well.  At one time, he owned and operated a junkyard, which he thoroughly enjoyed doing.  Above all, he enjoyed family time, and spending time with the love of his life, his wife, Grace.  He will be fondly remembered as a happy person who was a loving husband and father.

Mr. Rash is preceded in death by his loving wife, Grace E. Rash; sons, Ronnie and Kenny Rash; and a step daughter, Jean Logan.

He is survived by his sons, George (Jan) Rash Jr., Phillip (Jeannie) Rash; daughters, Susan (Bryan) Hitchens; stepchildren, Allen Breeding Jr., Ruby (Butch) Farmer, Sharon (Ray) Melvin;  sister, Jane (Russ) Magruder; brother, David (Maxine) Rash; 18 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren, and numerous great great grand children.

A Funeral Service will take place at the Melvin Funeral Home, 15522 South DuPont Hwy., Harrington, on Monday, August 27, 2018, at 1 PM, with a visitation for family and friends starting at 11AM.  The service will be conducted by Rev. David A. Rash, his brother.  Burial will take place at the Hollywood Cemetery, Harrington.
