David Hughes Sr.

David Hughes Sr., HARRINGTON, passed away on Sunday, October 21, 2018, at the Bayhealth-Milford Memorial Hospital, he was 67.  David was born in Harbeson, DE to the late Roland and Grace Hughes.

David was a hard worker all of his life, making sure to provide for his family.  His last job was a machine operator for Tilcon.  He was previously employed as a mechanic for Purdue Farms, a mason for Legates Construction, and even a farmer for Ronnie Webb.  He was never afraid of a honest hard days work.

When he was not busy working, he did enjoy fishing, crabbing, hunting, and eating out.  He could be found at home oftentimes tinkering on old cars as well.  David was always caring for his family and they were always on his mind.  He loved his children and grandchildren immensely and would do anything for anybody.  Although he was usually set in his ways, he had a heart of gold and will be deeply missed.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Kenny Hughes; and a sister Pat Roberts.

He is survived by his children, Dana Shrieves, David Hughes Jr., Matthew Benton, Brian Hughes, Brock Hughes; brothers, George Hughes, Roland Hughes, Ronald Hughes, Charles Hughes, Rueben Hughes, Michael Hughes, Elwood Hughes; sisters, Joann Layton and Mary Anne Branham, 7 grandchildren, and 1 great grandchild.

Services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
