Betsy Short

Betsy Short, of Harrington, passed away on Saturday, January 6, 2018, surrounded by her family at home.  She was the daughter of the late, Willard and Ruth Butler.

Betsy worked for several years for Wells Insurance Co.  She also had her own business as a public accountant for 28 years.  She retired in 1980 to attend to her ailing parents.

Betsy was a member of The Harrington New Century Club, Harrington Lions Club, Harrington Parks & Rec., the Harrington Museum, The Agriculture Museum in Dover, the Women of the Moose in Harrington, the Felton Alumni Assoc., the Harrington Senior Center, Milford Senior Center, Greenwood Senior Center, past president of The VFW Auxiliary in Milford Post 6483, and Calvary Wesleyan Church in Harrington.

In addition to her parents, Betsy is preceded in death by her brother, Donald Butler.

Betsy is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, John “Jack” Short; daughter, Joanne Moore (Steve); son, John “Cookie” Short; four grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
 
A Memorial Service will be January 12, 2018, at 11 am with a gathering of friends and family will take place one hour prior at Melvin Funeral Home, 15522 South DuPont Hwy., Harrington. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial contribution can be made to Calvary Wesleyan Church, 240 Delaware Ave., Harrington, DE 19952.
