Traditional Funeral Services
Melvin Funeral Home is a full service funeral home. We offer any type of funeral service or memorialization to fit your needs. We will customize and incorporate any desire or wish. We believe that no two funerals should be alike, because no two people are alike.
A traditional funeral service is one that family and friends meet at a funeral home, church, or hall for a ceremony where the life of the deceased is remembered. After the service, a funeral procession will lead the participants to a cemetery for an interment. The traditional funeral service is arranged through a licensed funeral director where the casket and vault are purchased through the funeral home.
The traditional funeral service incorporates the following elements: professional services of funeral director and staff, embalming, facilities to conduct the service, rolling stock (removal vehicle, flower vehicle, hearse), transfer of remains, and merchandise selected (casket, vault, garments, register book, etc.). Oftentimes, cash advance items will be arranged by the funeral director. These items may include cemetery fees, vault company fees, clergy honorariums, floral arrangements, certified copies of death certificates, hairdresser, etc.
To showcase the caskets that we offer in our funeral home, we have placed them on this site. Since many families are displaced across this country, family members can view the caskets we offer to give their opinion in the arrangement process for their loved one, if they can not be here for that arrangement.
Cremation
Cremation is gaining in popularity in today's society. There are just as many choices with cremation compared to a traditional funeral service. Basically, we offer three choices for cremation. more >>.
In an effort to ease the grieving process and facilitate grief better, we designed our funeral home and tailor our traditional funeral services to do just that. From the moment you step into our funeral home, you will be greeted with reverence and dignity, and we will guide you step by step through the arrangements. After the funeral services, we will continue to stay in touch through aftercare.
Going Above and Beyond
Melvin Funeral Home has started traditions and first time services that many have duplicated or imitated. We publish a quarterly newsletter, the Rosette, for distribution. We were the first funeral home in this state to offer a Christmas service, held on the first Sunday in December. This service allows survivors to spend Christmas with the ones they lost, so that the holidays may be spent with the surviving family. We also memorialize every loved one that has passed away with a brass plate that is placed on our In Memory Board, another first in this state. We also create Tribute DVD's that showcase pictures from a persons life. These are a few offerings that place us ahead in the funeral industry.
