Kathleen M. Simpson

SEAFORD — Kathleen M. Simpson, of Seaford, passed away on Sunday, April 8, 2012, at Genesis Health Care, Milford. She was 64.

Mrs. Simpson was a graduate of St. Vincent Academy High School in Newark, N.J.  After graduation, she went to nursing school to get a degree in nursing.  She worked as a registered
nurse for many years at Nanticoke Hospital in Seaford, where she was head nurse from 1969 to 1977. Although diagnosed with MS at the young age of 28, when her daughter was 4 months old and son 4 years old, she never let the disease bring her down. She always had a smile on her face and would instantly brighten up anyone's day whenever she greeted them with a smile.

Mrs. Simpson belonged to the Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church of Seaford.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Marie McWeeney.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, John and Anna Simpson of Laurel; daughter, Megan Chaffinch of Seaford; mother and father-in-law, Beulah Mae and Paul Simpson of Harrington; brother and sisters-in-law, Gary and Jean Simpson of Denton, Md., Darrin and Laura Simpson of Harrington, Gail and Aubrey Brown of Harrington, Sherri and Barney Stubbs of Harrington; grandchildren, Shelby Marie and Shelby Lynn Simpson, Robin Simpson, Branden Simpson, Carley and Payton Chaffinch; and former husband, Dennis Simpson of Laurel.

Services will be 1 p.m., Thursday, April 12, 2012, in Melvin Funeral Home, 15522 South DuPont Hwy., Harrington, where a visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Hollywood Cemetery, Harrington.
