Traig Smith Obituary

Traig C. Smith, age 30, of Harrington, passed away on Friday, March 23, 2018, from the Pennsylvania Hospital-Penn Medicine of Philadelphia.  Traig was born in Dover, DE to Thomas Parker and Cynthia Smith-Stevens.

Before his illness, Traig worked at the Milford Walgreens as a cashier, and was well known there.  Prior to that job, he worked at Harrington Casino in security.

Traig loved to play basketball and was very athletic.  He was a health freak who watched what he ate and worked out religiously and always carried a gallon jog of water wherever he went.  Traig was a very respectable gentleman who always used his manners, showed respect, and was an overall good guy.  He was smart with a great sense of humor whose smile would brighten up a room.  He always knew what to say and when to say it to make you feel good about any situation and his compliments were genuine and sincere.  He was a caring person who would give you his last dollar if you needed it, he was an awesome dad to his children, and a loving husband.  He will be greatly missed.

Traig is preceded in death by his grandfather, Samuel Parker.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his loving wife, Shelby Smith; children, Niyha Smith and Traig C, Smith Jr.; brothers, Chris Smith, George Stevens, Te'Vaughn and DeVaughn Collick; sister, Shadasia Collick; step-brother, Jimar Murphy; step-sisters, Shakira and Desiree Collick; grandparents, Emily Smith-Miller and Gertrude Parker; and mother in law, Melissa Harris.

Funeral services will be private and at the family's convenience.

At the family's request, donations may be made to the Melvin Funeral Home, 15522 South DuPont Hwy., Harrington, DE 19952,  to help defray funeral expenses.
