Socrates Allen

S. Socrates Allen of Harrington passed away June 2, 2017 at Bayhealth- Kent General at the age of 39. He was the son of Stanford and Chicquita Allen of Harrington.

Socrates spent most of his life working in sales; he was currently employed with Kent County Motors.  Prior to that he worked for Comcast where he helped to create a new employee training manual for door to door sales. He graduated from Lake Forest High School in 1996 where he had played on the football team, which won the state championship in the 1995 season.

Socrates attended church throughout his life, including most recently, John Wesley AME Church in Dover, Southside Baptist Church, Dover Revival Center, and Camden-Wyoming Methodist Church.

Socrates was an outgoing man who would do whatever was asked of him. Even at a young age, his friends sought his advice. He enjoyed getting up early to watch the sun rise at the beach, attending Florida Gators games when nearby, and being with family.

Socrates loved his daughters deeply and tried to be the best father possible.  He loved fishing with his youngest, Aniyah, dinners with daughter Brooklyn, and long naps with his girlfriend, Shelly.

In addition to his parents, Socrates is survived by his daughters, Brooklyn Rash and Aniyah Allen; brother, Byron Allen; sister, Shirley Holstein; and his loving girlfriend, Shelly Weaver.

Services will be on Friday, June 9, 2017, at Melvin Funeral Home, 15522 South DuPont Hwy., Harrington, DE at 12 pm.  A visitation for family and friends will take place Thursday, June 8, 2017 from 6-8 pm and 11am-12pm on Friday.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Harrington Parks and Recreation, 114 E. Liberty St, Harrington, DE 19952.
