Roadmap-037
Welcome to the memorial page for

Michael L. Parsons

February 25, 2017

Michael L. Parsons, age 65, of Houston, was called home to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 25, 2017, from the Milford Hospice Center.  Michael was born on April 14, 1951 to the Late Chester and Helen Parsons.  In addition to his parents, Michael is preceded in death by a sister, Diane Toomey, and his lifelong friend, Wanda Mitchell.

Michael worked as a long haul truck driver for many years, hauling loads all over the country.  He enjoyed working for himself and owning and driving his own truck.  To sum up Michael's life it would be to say he was all about his family.  He was always there for his children, and grandchildren no matter what, and always wanted to get together as a family.  Even with all his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, he never failed to remember a birthday, and was always knocking on the door on that day with a birthday card in hand.  He had a special and meaningful nickname that he gave to each of his grandchildren.

When not on the road trucking, Michael enjoyed woodworking and tinkering.  He was very talented with his hands, and his family's homes are filled with his woodworking projects whether cabinets, shelves, picture frames, entertainment centers, etc.

Michael will be remembered as a jokester.  He loved to play practical jokes, especially about his imaginary dog, Spot.  His pranks will forever be his legacy. Along with his good sense of humor, he had a heart of gold.  He would give you the shirt off of his back, even to a stranger, and was always willing to help.  He was a true friend to all and never met a stranger.  He will be greatly missed.

Michael is survived by two sons, Jim (Yvonne) Parsons of Harrington, Christopher (Christina) Parsons of Powell, TN; two daughters, Tammy Carter of Frederica, Heather (Scott) Rust of Greenwood; eleven grandchildren, Ashley, Katlyn, Michael, Ryalli, Jimmy, Lauren, Dyllan, Rachel, Kylla, Benjamin, and Brynllee; three great grandchildren, Shane Jr., Bernadette, and Brysen; a sister, Dawn (Steve) Wingo of Houston; brother, Chester R. Parsons of Milton; several cousins, nieces, nephews, friends, and his beloved dog, Spot.

Services will take place on Friday, March 3, 2017, at the Thomas E. Melvin & Son Funeral Home, 15522 South DuPont Hwy., Harrington, DE, at 1pm, with a visitation Thursday evening from 6 to 8 pm.  The interment will take  place at Hollywood Cemetery, Harrington.
