Michael Duschl

June 11, 2016

Michael Duschl, age 91 of Harrington, passed away on Saturday, June 11, 2016 from his home with his family by his side.  He was born in Zenting, Germany to the late Michael and Marie Duschl Sr.

At the young age of 3, Mr. Duschl, along with his family, entered this country through Ellis Island, NY, to become citizens of the United States.  He served his country proudly in the U.S. Army Infantry, and received numerous awards including the prestigious Purple Heart for his participation and becoming wounded in the Battle of Normandy.

Mr. Duschl retired as a butcher from Acme Markets after 38 years of loyal employment.  In his spare time, he enjoyed fresh water fishing, bowling, reading, and playing cards.  His love of reading was part of his lifelong quest of studying history, which he loved thoroughly.  He will be remembered as soft spoken with a heart of gold.  He was a good father, loving husband, and a great provider who loved his family dearly.  He will be sadly missed.

Mr. Duschl was a member of the Harrington Moose #534, Harrington Senior Center, and a former member of the American Legion.

He is survived by his wife, Gloria Duschl of Harrington; son, Michael J. Duschl; daughter, Sharon Tarczynski; brother, Herman (Betty) Duschl; sisters and brothers in law, Patty and Larry Powell, Robin Scott; grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Carly, James Tarczynski, Michael Robertson.
