Michael Dobies

 Michael Dobies, Sr., age 65, of Harrington, passed away at home on Sunday, May 21, 2017 surrounded by his loving family.  He was the son of the late, William and Helen Dobies.

 Mr. Dobies was a tool and die maker by trade, working at National Vulcanized Fiber in Wilmington for many years.  He also worked as an electrician.

 Mr. Dobies  loved antiques, often going to sales looking for old clocks and phones.  He loved his music, especially the oldies like Buddy Holly.  His favorite season was Christmas time, and he enjoyed going to church and could recite the Bible.  He loved being outdoors tending to his yard work, crabbing, or in his younger years, bird hunting.  Above all else, he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, and loved family get togethers and BBQs.  

He will be remembered as a very giving man with a great sense of humor, flirtatious nature, and willing to help anyone out in a heartbeat.  He was a grandfather to a lot of people, and known as Mr. Wonderful, Pop, or Pop-Pop to many.  He will be sadly missed.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Dobies is preceded in death by his brothers, David, John and Bill Dobies.

Mr. Dobies is survived by his wife, Mary Dobies; his son, Michael Dobies Jr (Christy); daughter, Michelle “Shelley” Dobies; grandchildren, Ashley and Michael "Partners in Crime" Dobies, Shelby Dobies, Megan Darling, Taylor Dobies, Brianna Dobies and Timothy Robbins; great grandchildren, Michael Selner III, Starr Selner, Noel Bogan, Aaliyah Smith, Nate Smith, Madilyn Bradley, Benjamin Chrisler; brothers, James, Richard and Anthony Dobies; also many extended step children from his wife Mary and their families; and ex-wife/best friend, Katherine Dobies.

Services will be private and held at the family’s convenience.                      .
