HARRINGTON — Margaret 'Megan' Graham Shaw passed away in her home on Sept. 12, 2016, shortly before her 81st birthday.

She was the daughter of the late J. Ralph and Elizabeth Graham, of Sudlersville, Md.  Besides her parents, Megan was preceded in death by her brother, Charles J. Graham.

She had the distinction of being the first full time female student at Texas A & M University. She later completed her education by graduating from the University of Delaware. Mrs. Shaw taught Math, Reading and English in the Lake Forest School district until her retirement in 1990. She was a member  of St. Stephens Episcopal church where she was known for her deep faith.

Megan always saw the good in others and welcomed people heartily into her home. She had many hobbies including reading, playing bridge, swimming, watching the Orioles, cooking, canning produce from her husband’s garden, and skyping with her grandchildren.  She also loved, yellow roses, traveling  to different countries, river cruising, and riding her convertible (Megan’s Toy) in hot weather. The vibrant, full of fun, life of the party, Megan loved to  entertain and be with her family and friends. She had so much love for everyone and will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her loving husband of 45 years, William W. Shaw, Jr.; son, Cornelius “Kit” A. Tilghman, III, and wife, Jane; daughter, Mary-Louise G.  Tilghman and husband, Dietmar; grandchildren, Tyler, Ginny, Margo, Carlie and Fiona Tilghman; family friends, Jerry J. Scott and Charlie Walters;  innumerable friends from the Harrington/Saint Stephen’s Episcopal Church Communities, as well as her cats, Kaz and Manny. 

Services will be at a later date at the discretion of the family.
