Louder E. McMullen of Harrington, passed away on Saturday, February 3, 2018 at the Bayhealth-Milford Memorial Hospital, he was 97. Mr. McMullen was born in Harington, to the late John and Agnes J. McMullen.
Mr. McMullen worked for over 33 years with Delmarva Power and Light as a truck driver, retiring in 1983. He worked briefly on the railroad for a couple of years as well.
Mr. McMullen loved to go camping and hunting. He was an avid gardener and grew a big enough garden to feed most of the neighborhood. He enjoyed raising chickens and working in the woods in a sawmill, which he thoroughly enjoyed. One of his favorite activities was listening to the Blue Grass, Country, and Gospel music playing in Goldsboro and Petersburg with a talented group of friends that got together most Saturday nights. He will be remembered as a hard worker, loving husband, father, and grandfather, and will be greatly missed.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Jean McMullen; brothers, Howard and John McMullen; sisters, Alice Baker, Grace Ratledge, and Pauline Pepper; granddaughter, Kori Minner.
He is survived by his daughter, Bertha (Jack) Wyatt of Harrington; granddaughter, Deborah (Harry Jr.) Minner; great grandchild, Kacie Minner.
Services will take place at the Melvin Funeral Home, 15522 South Dupont Hwy., Harrington, DE on Friday, February 9, 2018 at 12pm, with a visitation for family and friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Hollywood Cemetery, Harrington.
