Welcome to the memorial page for

Joanna T. Gibson

December 20, 2017

Joanna T. Gibson, of Felton, passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, December 20, 2017, she was 82 years old.  She was born in Bessemer, Alabama to the late, Quiella D. "Randy" Sauls Jr. and Mary Ellen Tate.

Ms. Gibson worked for over 30 years in the D.C. public schools as an English teacher.  After she retired from there, she worked briefly for the Environmental Protection Agency.  Until just recently, she volunteered for the Modern Maturity Center of Dover in their senior Medicare Patrol program.  She was such an advocate for the elderly that in 2009 she received an award as one of the nation’s “Outstanding Medicare Patrol Volunteers” by the U. S. Administration on Aging.  She truly loved to volunteer and help people, and looked forward to meeting new faces.

Ms. Gibson loved living in the country, having moved to Delaware from Bowie, Maryland.  She enjoyed getting her hair done, and playing games on her Ipad and Nintendo DS.  She truly loved her cat, Eve, and they were inseparable.  She had a strong faith in God and passed that along to her children.  She will be sadly missed.

Ms. Gibson is survived by her daughter, Glynis Gibson of Felton; son, Scott Eugene Gibson of Felton;  3 grandchildren, Shawn, Roxanne, and Greg; and 2 great grandchildren, Ashlynn and Tanner.

Services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
