Welcome to the memorial page for

Douglas C. Trader

June 18, 2016

Douglas C. Trader Sr., age 70, of Harrington, passed away on Saturday, June 18, 2016 from his home with his family by his side.  He was born in Pennsylvania, son of the late Albert J. and Lola C. Trader.

Mr. Trader was a veteran who served his country proudly in the U.S. Army.  Upon his return home, he began working for LD Caulk where he gave 20 years of service.  He then worked for the City of Harrington in public works, retiring after 10 years of service.

Growing up, Mr. Trader was raised on a farm and he never lost his love of gardening and being outside.  He would spend from sun up to sun down tending his garden and raising chickens.  He also enjoyed listening to country music and he loved watching old western movies.

Mr. Trader loved his family dearly.  He was very proud of his grandson Nicholas.  He loved spending time with his brothers and together they could spend hours talking about stories from when they were growing up and working on their parents farm.  Mr. Trader loved his dog Murphy and missed him terribly during his illness and lengthy hospital stays.  He loved his home and longed to be there.  He was able to spend his final days there surrounded by his family, friends, and pets.

He is preceded in death by his sisters, Betty Trader and Lois Melvin.

He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Faye P. Trader of Harrington; daughter, Christine (Robert) Vella of Harrington; son, Douglas C. Trader Jr. of Harrington; grandson, Nicholas Vella of Harrington; brothers, Albert (Darlene) Trader of Harrington, Kenneth (Polly) Trader of Smyrna, David Trader of Laurel, Gary Trader of Frederica, Dennis (Norma) Trader of Houston, and several nieces and nephews.  He is also survived by close family friends Will and Claudia Pedersen.

Thank you to his entire family for their love and support during his illness.  Special thanks to his sister in law Robbin Stubbs for being there everyday for support and help, and to his brother David for the comfort that he brought to him through their prayers together.
