Charles L. Slaughter

Charles L. Slaughter of Felton, passed away on Wednesday, November 16, 2016, from the Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital, he was 73.  Charles was born in Ridgely, MD to the late, Norman L. and Grace Virginia Slaughter.

For most of his life, Charles worked as a welder and millwright, and built many silos across Delmarva.  He also previously worked at the Harrington Box Factory as well.

In his younger days, Charles was an avid horseback rider.  He loved to be around horses and loved to ride.  As he got older, that love of riding went from horses to motorcycles and he enjoyed riding his motorcycle.  Always a tinkerer, he loved to tinker on anything mechanical in his garage.  When he was able, Charles enjoyed being a member of the Harrington Moose Lodge and visiting the lodge.  Charles will be remembered as always living for the moment, enjoying life.  He cared for his family and friends and will be missed.

In addition to his parents, Charles is preceded in death by his companion, Pearl M. Hutson.

He is survived by his sister, Eleanor (Charles) Davis of Denton, MD; niece, Valerie (Bill) Miller; nephews, William "Ron" Davis, Charles Lee (Carol) Davis III; his companion Pearl Hutson's children, Robert, Christal, Dorothy, and Teresa; and his K9 companion whom he adored, Junior.

Funeral services will take place at Melvin Funeral Home, 15522 South DuPont Hwy., Harrington, on Tuesday, November 22, 2016 at 1PM.  A visitation for family and friends will take place one hour prior to the service.  Interment will be at Hollywood Cemetery, Harrington.
