GREENWOOD - Belinda "Peanut" Reed passed away at her home on June 20, 2016, with her family by her side after a three and a half year battle with ovarian cancer. Known by most of her family and childhood friends as 'Peanut,' Belinda spent most of her life in Caroline County and spent 26 years working a job she loved as a secretary for the Department of Environmental Health, retiring in 2014 due to her illness.

Belinda moved to Greenwood 18 years ago, at which time she married her soul mate, Bruce Reed. During this time, she was able to enjoy traveling and the joy of becoming a 'Mom-Mom.' She loved being a grandmother to her 16 grandchildren and would often plan weekend slumber parties, beach trips and camping trips.

In addition to her parents, Claude and Leocadia Ensley, Belinda is predeceased by her brothers, Claude and Anthony 'Tony' Ensley.

She is survived by her loving husband of nearly 18 years, Bruce Reed; sons, Matthew Melvin (Morgan), of Ridgely, Md., Andrew Reed (Amanda), of Milford, Jeremy Reed (Stephanie), of Ellendale and Sean Reed (Melissa), of Ellendale; daughters, Shannon Manus (Pete), of Camden, and Melinda Toomey (James), of Middleburg, Fla.; 16 grandchildren; brother, Edward Ensley, of Cypress, Texas; her sisters, with whom she shared a special bond, Cecile Bryant (Ed), of Southhampton, N.J., Joanne Lister, of Easton, Md., and Rosemarie Bant (Jim), of Philadelphia, Pa. Belinda also leaves to cherish her memory a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

A memorial service will take place at Melvin Funeral Home, 15522 South DuPont Hwy., Harrington, on Saturday, July 9, 2016 at 11 a.m. A gathering of family and friends will take place one hour prior to the service and the family will be holding a Celebration of Life gathering at Holiday Park in Greensboro, Md., immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, it was Belinda's wish that women educate themselves on the symptoms of ovarian cancer and donate to their local SPCA or Cancer Society . Burial will be private.
