Welcome to the memorial page for

Allan Oestreich

January 19, 2016

Allan Oestreich went Home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 19, 2016, from the Bayhealth-Milford Memorial Hospital, he was 85 years old.  Mr. Oestreich was born in Ashland, PA, son of the late Harry and Lottie Oestreich.

Mr. Oestreich served his country proudly starting in the US Navy and then with the US Air Force.  He worked as a jet engine mechanic, and was enlisted for over 20 years.  After the military, he worked for over 15 years for the postal service until he took early retirement to spend time on what he enjoyed, gardening, fishing, and wood working.  He was quite skilled at wood carving, and even entered his carved ducks into local competitions.

Another favorite activity was listening to blue grass gospel music.  He even enjoyed strumming along on his banjo.  Having a relationship with his Lord was a priority in his life, and he enjoyed attending the Milford Church of the Nazarene, and later the Manship Chapel.

Mr. Oestreich is best described as salt of the Earth.  He devoted his life to his family and was always involved with family activities.  He was always humble, frugal, and a man of integrity.  He was always ultra responsible and honest.  Although he was a quiet man, he had a funny sense of humor which no one expected.

Mr. Oestreich was preceded in death by his sister, Helen Herrman; and a brother, Harry Oestreich.

He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Carol Oestreich of Milford; daughters, Karen (Nelson) Kenton of Milford,  Carol (William) Radzunas of Mariden, CT; 8 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren.

Services will take place on Tuesday, January 26, 2016, at the Milford Church of Christ, 1003 South DuPont Blvd, Milford, DE at 11 am, with a visitation one hour prior.  A private interment will take  place later at the Christ Church Cemetery, Ashland, PA.
